Each year businesses spend thousands of dollars providing training to their supervisors. In fact, the average “canned” 4 hour training session costs anywhere from $1800 to $2400. If training occurs 2 to 3 times per year, businesses will spend a staggering amount of money.
Organizations’ don’t mind investing monies in training when the desired results are achieved because ultimately there will be a return on their investment. However, it is a proven fact that most supervisors and managers who receive training resort to their former practices within 30-days of having received the training. This is not to say that the information given during the training is not valuable but it does suggest that information alone is not sufficient to promote and sustain change.

Our training model involves four phases outlined below.
Step 1: Assessment
During this phase we assess the five primary skills needed for supervisors. Supervisor skills are organized into the following five categories: Guiding the Work, Organizing the Work, Developing Your Staff, Managing Performance, and Managing Relations.
Step 2: Support
During this phase we implement a training program derived from the assessment phase. We offer workshops that will help supervisors enhance their hard and soft workplace skills.
Step 3: Accountability
One of the common problems with training is that the employer does not get a return on their investment. During this phase, we work with the manager to develop an accountability instrument and process that supervisors to advance in utilizing the trainings.
Step 4: Evaluation
You, the manager, the director, and the powers that be want to know: Did your training result in benefits to the organization? During this phase, we conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to ensure that the trainings improved the performance of the supervisors and met the expectations of the managers.
